Sapphire Days

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.

~ Anne Bradstreet

Oh, great.
PS: don't ask me what happened to my last blog post ... it all disappeared but the comments.

So, here are some new pictures of my winter. The comments don't match, so it's going to seem totally confusing. AND the date is wrong. Today is February 10.

I need a geek, quick!

Anyhow, have a sapphire day!

    1. Yes, that's just it, Nancy! Normally I would see the sunshine I between snow storms but I cannot tolerate the gray, gray, gray. Ugh. Depressing.
Thank you for being here. I have been spending quite a bit of time on your etsy site...which one...which one....omg the bead strands are incredible!
And your snow covered NYC. Wow.

  3. You do live in the wrong part of the country for you! We're getting snow every single day and I love it, as you know. :) I LOVE your heart and bear linocuts. Your travel schedule sounds so busy already, too. Hope your sun stays out, my friend.

    1. I suppose I do live in the wrong state. I really would not be happy in Florida, you know that.
But, Bisbee AZ has been on my mind a lot! (Again...as usual) ;)
Oh sure, the calendar is filling up but things always change and I'll get the eraser out and make a different plan. Nothing is so definite with me!
      But, the horses.
Your forest covered in snow is paradise. Even I would love and tolerate all that beauty outside your dwelling.

    1. I think we should do a house switch next winter. I'd be much happier if I were in Albuquerque then....
Why do we live where we live!?? It's all wrong! ;)

  5. oh, Lynn!! beautiful, heart-felt tribute to Owl!! I am still trying to make sense of all of that. survivor owl still hoots from the tall trees, a forlorn solo that rings with pale echoes of their duet.
it is a snow day here after a foot of fresh snow with just enough wind to sculpt the yard into various abstractions. the horses were feisty and impatient this morning with lots of head tossing and crow hopping. the donkeys played their pathetic card with Otie refusing to come out of the shed and Sam standing fixed as though he were frozen in place with h snow to his knees. you would have loved it, even without blue skies!
your calendar year is shaping up nicely. you have a nice lineup of adventures to look forward to. I'm also loving your artworks!
    sending you sunny thoughts today!

    1. Oh. Forlorn solo...I can't take it!!!
We will be spending a lot more time at Red Feather this summer..
You should come up. We finally snagged that extra lot and now I'm badgering C to put up a yurt ASAP! We'll see.
I've got so much to talk to you about those owls...

  6. I hope the ground hog bears messages of spring coming...you have had enough snow....I am impressed with your list of planned trips...How do you manage? You do live in magical country, bears, owls, horses....and few people. Where do you hide your art?

Sending you sunshine...we were 37F this morning...only a little cold because I have basically no cold weather clothing/just put one thing on top of another.

    xoxo

    1. Ahhh...the layered look. I know it well.
I try to plan at least one "get-away" per month...since I work full time.
It's very important for me to have that freedom to just GO somewhere. Mostly, it's driving distance to these places. I mean, New Mexico is only an 8 hour drive. And Yellowstone, 5 hours. Green Mountain, 1 hour from home. So, we really don't do that much traveling...just staying in Wyoming for the most part. Unless I get a hair.... Hehe. ;)
Meet us in Topanga in March!!?? I'll convo you.

    1. Hey TJ... That quote was a godsend! In so few words it tells the story of my mind completely and clearly. How I feel about winter/spring.
I love summer....you know that. I feel ungrateful bad-mouthing winter all the time! :)

  12. Oh, damn, where'd the post go!? I saw it when you first posted it and had meant to come back to comment, alas. But this little collection of photos is pretty-durn divine. Love all of that blue!! There's a particular type of blue that's part of the shadow within folds of snow that just makes me swoon. It just takes me back to all of my childhood hopes and dreams and longings.

We get so little snow here, and even where it does snow in Western Oregon it's also so green, that color of blue is rare. We're starting to actively get ready to move to a snowier, colder state. It's what I want so terribly badly, but I'm also a little scared. I take our mild winters for granted, and I think back to growing up in Central Oregon, then living in New England, and cursing the snow. And here I am wanting it...

Anyway, Lynn, I'll stop rambling on your blog.

Oh, but wait - those bunny ears! Get out!!!
