Like a Wildflower

<=== My ode to all the wild horses ===>

I hope you are blessed with

a heart like a wildflower.

Strong enough to rise again

after being trampled upon,

tough enough to weather the

worst of the summer storms,

and able to grow and flourish

even in the most broken places.

~ Nikita Gill

With special thanks and gratitude to Ginger Kathrens, Emmy-award winning wildlife documentary filmmaker, number one wild horse advocate, founder of The Cloud Foundation, (a Colorado non-profit corporation) and rescuer of many mustangs.

I know more about the lives and complex behavior of wild horses than I ever dreamed imaginable.

I am deeply honored to call you my friend.

  1. OK...I admit it. I am jealous! What a wonderful opportunity! Thank you for sharing this with us. The photos are beautiful as always. Love the window shot of you, Ginger and Quinn! That is priceless! I bet Ginger was appropriately horrified that the BLM is rounding up these healthy horses on a range that can fully support them. Such a freaking shame. Bless you for your advocacy and speaking on out on behalf of these wild ones.

    1. One more thing...thanks for showing the flip-side of that sorrel's mane. What a stunning horse.

    2. Hey Sheree.
I know what you mean. I cannot tell you all the ways I feel when I'm alongside Ginger. I learn so much more, every time I see her. Without her knowing it, that lady also keeps me grounded. A bit more level headed. Her approach to the situation with the wild horses is admirable and smart and she has grace and composure. (Not me!) hahaha! I keep learning and practicing, to fly off the handle when it comes to the BLM and Interior Sec. Zinke. I'd still love to give him a piece of my mind. :/
That sorrel with the Marilyn Monroe mane...omg. They better leave her on the range, I'm telling you what!!!
      Love ya.

    1. As you know, there are some weird things out on the land we wander, Sagey!
Cow shit, record players, flowers, bullet shells, tin cans, barbed wire, old bottles. You find cooler stuff on your mesa. :)
      Thanks for being here.

  3. Wildflowers and wild horses! The blue flowers are my favorite and all the horses are my favorites. :) So happy you're ever closer to the horse's soul.
