...and bone painting.
I discovered a new side of Green Mountain today.
That's where we found the Spirit band. Jigsaw had her baby! Foal names, anybody?
Mama Jigsaw still looks like a barrel.
Hi Tuffy.
Milk is also the daughter of Jigsaw. Well, we thought so until now. Milk is a boy. A mama's boy at that.
Here is Milk and Rustee and her sleeping foal, Jigsaw and her new foal.
We found this stallion and his foal just hanging out by themselves in a remote area. I kept asking the same question over and over, "I wonder where the mama is?"
If you follow this old dirt road it will lead you to the Red Desert.
One leg and hoof. Nothing else.
Cinnamon stallion is partial to blondes.
This is the second time I've seen a coyote in the same area. Most likely the same one.
Like mother like daughter.
The rich colors of this band! They were very wary of our presence. I didn't feel like bugging them, so we didn't stay very long.
I got a new Daypack. I went with Granite Gear.
I just call him Big Ears. Or is it Big Eyes!
Last but not least, BEAST!
Bliss! I love how intimate you are with the horses! Reading them inside and out! As always, you are beautiful amidst Beauty. Nice new pack!! That coyote pic also stole my heart. :) Happy times on the meadow, sweet sissy.

Got to thinking 'bout names- With all this Pluto in the news.... and then its moons,,, Charon, Nix, Hydra, Kerberos and Styx! ;)
DeleteSo, in case you didn't know....I've named the foal BLISS!
DeleteSan, I really like those other names! Especially Charon & Styx. Except, when I see the word Styx I immediately start singing "Lady, when you're with me I'm smiling". Haha :)
DeleteI want to go with you sometime. Promise me!
ReplyDeleteme too me too!!!!
DeleteCount me in too!!
DeleteI SO promise, Boo!

And Cat...and Sagey!
DeleteYes! Let's all go see the horses!!!!!!!l
Jigsaw's baby? Boy: Blade or girl: Gingerbread!!! :D
ReplyDeleteHIS name turned out to be Bliss.
DeleteIt was a tie between Blade & Bliss....
Ah, next time there will be a Blade. For sure!
Xx
What a grand day! Gorgeous horses and cute babies, horned toad and coyote, flowers and butterflies, a cool new pack! No ideas on baby names, except when I saw Sandra's comment above: 'Bliss' would be a good name, dontcha think? :) Love the painted jawbone, too. We spent a little time today investigating an area lake and nearby peaks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, Diana.
DeleteHope the fires are steering clear of you.
Bliss is a sweet name.
xx
seriously!!!
ReplyDeletelets start with what I don't like about this post!!!!!
...........................
yup that about sums it up
love the horses
love the bunny
love the lady bug and the painted bone
love seeing you AND your new pack
but my favorite
my absolute favorite is that cheeky smile on coyotes face saying "Figure it out Lynn...figure it out" with a twinkle in his eye and kid-like mischief in his energy
yup...he is my favorite
love and light lovely ♥
That coyote and I are truly friends, Cat!
DeleteThe animals know I am on their side. ;)
I hope you are well, my Canadian buddy.
such a beautiful post!! i think i say that every time, but only because it's true. i think Jigsaw's baby should be Puzzle, mostly because i like the sound of it. that mother/daughter duo is certainly striking! most of them are quietly colored, able to camouflage against the colors of the arid landscape, but those black and white beauties rather call attention to themselves! it makes me happy to know that you schedule regular times to visit your bands of horses, that it is a priority to get out there and make contact, if even from a distance. over time that distance shrinks as trust builds. you've made that time, and it will be fascinating to see what comes of it!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Trust is building....I've just made friends with a new band who has taken a liking to me...I call them the FREIND BAND!

i do so think your chosen horse names quite clever....!
ReplyDeletethat coyote :: my spirit is there with you, red dirt....!!
beautiful post. lovely photographs.
Cotote seems to always be standing there....
DeletexxO
Your trip to the other side of Green Mountain is as beautiful as you are. Where else would you find a laughing coyote, a band of wild horses, and all that wild and wonderful country? That winding dirt road calls to me!
ReplyDeleteAnd I just LOVE that painted bone!
xx
I want to take that that winding road, too Sagey!
DeleteSummer roads....ahh so sweet.
xx
I just CAN NOT get over how beautiful those horses are. So, so, so beautiful. If I were closer they would pull me toward them, too.
ReplyDeleteMilk and Jigsaw sure do have a family resemblance!
That leg and hoof is startling, and solemn. I feel like I want to take my hat off my head and put it over my heart right then and there.
And Beast! WHAT!? How does a horse like that even live outside of CGI and imagination? Damn!
Absolutely love your posts, Lynn!
You should meet Beast, Clare!
ReplyDeleteYou'll never be the same! :))
xx
These pictures tell a lovely story of freedom and being wild. You are so lucky to be allowed a little time in their world. X
