For the Thanksgiving holiday we went away.
At Sinks Canyon State Park outside Lander, Wyoming there are a handful of yurts to stay in.
Let me tell you, that river roars.
I’m more a babbling brook kind of gal.
We were in ‘Joe Huto’ country.
You know, that nice man from the book and companion film, Touching The Wild.
Those are his friends with the big ears.
Around here climbing is a big deal.
Reading by the roar of the river.
Yurt life!
That does look like some awesome country. I may have to check it out at some point. How did you like it up there?
ReplyDeleteAnd you do look so at home at the yurt!

It’s cow country. Lots and lots of cows. That part I didn’t care for.
ReplyDeleteThe Wind River Range is right there. It’s the place to go for wilderness, backpacking, hiking. Chad has been in the Winds several times. He prefers the Bighorns.
The town has no character.
We were there for easy access to mustangs in the Red Desert.
Nice to see you, Sagey.

Ugh. Cows and herding breed dogs (like Pinto and Lucky) DO NOT mix.
ReplyDeleteGuess I lost my head when I saw trees in your photos!
x
Oh, you tree hugger!
DeleteI know, why don’t you find a place to live happily ever after in Red Feather.
Fort Collins is just mere drive.
Talk to ya later. :)
The roaring river would be fine by me. I have a hard time sleeping when its quiet. I have a white noise machine that I pretty much have to have on to sleep.
ReplyDeleteNever been in a Yurt. Looks like fun!
We had good beer and saw cowboy Elvis in Lander (OK...so it was cardboard cutout, but still...) That was something.
