It's snowing!
It's May!
It's Mother's Day!
So, I went out in it. I took a walk and sang a song to my owl. A whisper, really.
The softest hush of a tune, my prayer of thanks for showing up.
Mama owl could hear me, too. She is hunkered down, deep in her nest, just two trees east of where the sacred male resides. With binoculars, I get a glimpse of the blonde feathered head.
She's heard me sing before. I close my eyes and hum to her newborns. The ones she's taking such good care of.
And soon, there will be new lives to honor. And new songs to sing.
geweldig mooi als je dit zo kunt volgen.

Deleteoh my gosh!! you got such wonderful shots of your owl-- it must have been your singing! and our weather!! i went out, but not for a walk. it was more of a scurry, trying to get the plants to safety and cover those that could not be moved. we now have a garage full of pots and planter boxes.
ReplyDeletebtw, what do you do with all of the artwork in your sidebar? i LOVE your work!! i keep hoping that there will be a link to an etsy shop or something. the "flying manes" pastel is positively irresistible, really everything is! your strong colors draw me right in. i love seeing the inspiration of nature in your blog photography juxtaposed against the artistic interpretation on the side. perfection!!
xoxo
I think it's safe to say that this was our final snowstorm. Agree?
DeleteWow. I don't know what to say except thanks so very, very much for the compliments on my art. Makes me feel SO good to hear that. And encouraging enough to want to throw some paint on that white canvas I've had sitting on my easel for weeks now!
All my art gets printed into cards or single prints. I used to sell them in town a few years ago. I'm just lazy and haven't done much promoting. But, I do have an etsy account. I've had it for awhile, but none of my art is in that shop. YET. You like flying manes? I will send you one. Gladly, my friend. x
Love these shots of the owl. Is that rain in the foreground or snow??
ReplyDeleteBlowing snow!! Cold, wet, abundant snow. Constant for hours!
DeleteI don't think the owl liked it. ;)
beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that owl is so close to you...makes me feel like I am there too!
love and light my friend! xo
and PS whats up with that snow?????!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in Wyoming, remember?! Ha!
DeleteI love your owls (and your snowy blossoms!). We live in a narrow and somewhat steep drainage, where we hear raven calls echo back and forth between the hills, but we also hear a great horned owl up the hills a bit. Its calls tickle my ears when I hear them.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear ravens. Love the raven.
DeleteAnd the distinct sound of a great horned.
We're both lucky they are nearby.
I find late snows to be the most beautiful of all...nothing like snow on blossoms...the owl is adorable with that expression of "Whaat?" xx
ReplyDeleteThis snow was very pretty, I admit. White piled up on bright pink, it was most lovely! I knew it was fleeting so I didn't mind at all.
DeleteOh noooo! Let this pass quickly. The residual down this way is cool 60 degrees and windy. Gosh I wish you warmth, prairie sis. The owl is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteNot to worry. The snow came and went and today it is Glorious!
DeleteWow! Holy macaroons, these pictures are gorgeous! Damn girl. Dream world.
ReplyDeleteSNOW! May!? Wow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful owl.
Thinking of you.
Ash
Of course she hears you! And is please by your voice, your gratitude.

Amazing owl shots, woman! And of course you know I love that snow. We made a quick run up to Colorado last weekend....snow, hail, cold, cold, cold. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteMost of all, I love the thought of you humming to the newborn owlets. May they bless you with abundant feathers and owl calls. xx
